House Plans: Standard Series Plans

The term “Green” is the new buzz word, already in danger of loosing it’s value from commercialization.  However, it is an important concept with huge implications.  “Green” in stock house plan terms,  is largely dependent on product specification and building strategies.  That means it falls into the builder’s and owner’s decision making.  These plans are designed and detailed with a responsible environmental awareness, maximized in the solar house plans series.  However, the bottom line in greening a home is in material selection and construction practices.  In a stock plan there are limits one can reasonably provide for product specification.  It becomes an economic and regional concern, beyond the scope that can be provided here.  There is much that can be done and you will find many links to valuable resources in the resource section of this site.  A well-informed owner can instruct a builder as to what they want in their home.  A well-informed builder will stand out.
