Our personal residence in North Carolina that keeps expanding(?) Views are to the south, west and north. The south wall has barrels of water in cabinets for passive solar heat storage, plus a lot of glass and a sloping glass roof section. The west and north sides have covered porches. It gets very bright and warm in the winter. It is protected from the summer sun by deciduous trees. Passive solar really works, and makes a warm bright home. We truly love that about our home. Unfortunately, designing a passive solar home requires working with the site to a degree that makes designing stock plans impractical that incorporate those features into them. However, I would like to work on that, one of these days.
